Izola Chaney is the founder and CEO of Evolving Healthcare Advocates, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals to better understand and navigate the healthcare system. A passionate healthcare professional and advocate, Izola believes in evolving both personally and professionally and is deeply committed to helping others do the same in their own lives.
Izola’s journey in healthcare began in the 1980s as an Emergency Medical Technician and ambulance attendant. Her early experiences on the frontlines of emergency care ignited a lifelong passion for serving others. She went on to earn an Associate’s degree in General Studies, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a focus on Community Health Education from California State University, Long Beach, where she also worked as a clinical assistant in the student health center.
In 2010, she completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, becoming a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). With over a decade of experience as a PA, Izola has worked in diverse medical settings including Urgent Care, Family Medicine, Occupational Medicine, and Veterans Affairs Compensation & Pension Exams.
Her work has been particularly impactful in advocating for veterans and active duty service members, helping them understand their health benefits and secure the care they deserve for service-related conditions. Izola is a fierce advocate for the voiceless, ensuring every patient she encounters is heard, respected, and fully informed.
Outside of her professional life, Izola has been a devoted caregiver for her mother, advocating for both her parents through serious medical conditions, assisting father navigate care through the VA, and coordinating with their care teams. She brings this same compassion and persistence to supporting her friends, family, and patients as they navigate the often-confusing healthcare system—a role she’s embraced since the late 1980s.
Izola’s personal experiences have shaped her purpose. She became a widow and single mother in 2002, and is also a parent who has experienced the tragic loss of a child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). In 1993, she lived in Costa Rica, where she became fluent in Spanish and developed a deeper appreciation for life and cultural diversity. In 2014, she remarried the love of her life, who is a 20 year US Navy Veteran. She has witnessed firsthand the complexities of the VA healthcare system and the struggles veterans face with the claims process to obtain VA disability compensation benefits.
Motivated by her own journey, Izola remains dedicated to her mission: to educate, empower, and advocate for individuals within a complex healthcare landscape. Her goal is to ensure every person she works with feels supported and informed about their health decisions and care options. She brings empathy, resilience and real-world insight to every client she serves. She leads with the belief that every person deserves clarity, respect, and a strong advocate in their corner.
“Let’s evolve together, for better health, better outcomes, and a more human experience.” Izola Chaney
